Electric Skateboards Are Carving Out A Niche & We Love Them

If you heard the word “micromobility,” odds are the images of electric bikes and scooters flash before your eyes. If you’re more tapped into the ecosystem, you might even think of a trike or a moped. But we’ve all been sleeping on a growing niche in the space.

Electric skateboards have quietly evolved from niche toys for enthusiasts to highly functional last-mile transit solutions. Unlike 50-lb bikes and scooters you have to lock up outside and live in anxiety about, the average e-skateboard fits under your arm, desk, or into roomy drawers, making it an ideal aid for most urban commuters.

To find you the coolest e-boards that are still relatively affordable and easy to get your hands on, we found these 5 electric skateboards that are on Amazon. That way, you can have them delivered straight to you, and you can be sure they largely comply with customs restrictions. No shady websites, payment portals, or endless transit time with these boards.

MEEPO Campus Series

Campus V3

Priced at $190, the baseline Meepo Campus V3 is perfect for beginner teen riders. It features a relatively compact 26.7-inch deck and comes with a remote that lets you switch between 4 riding speeds. This board has a 150 lb weight limit; if you're heavier, look no further than the V3 Max or V5 trim. The baseline V3 features a 200W motor and a modest 200Wh battery that can get you between 8 and 12 miles per full charge.

Campus V5

The $359 Meepo Campus V5 is a slightly more advanced version of the V3, but it isn’t quite as powerful or as stacked as the V3 Max. It features 2 motors that each peak at 500W and runs on a 144Wh battery. It can go for 11 miles and reach a top speed of 28 mph. It weighs 17 lbs and can support a maximum weight of 330 lbs. It is IPX5 rated, which means it can handle the occasional splash, but not a drenching.

Campus V3 Max

The advanced version of the Campus V3, the Meepo Campus V3 Max, costs $479 and features dual motors that peak at 800W. The board also features a 324Wh battery that can keep you going for at least 20 miles in typical riding conditions. The motor tops out at 28 mph, and the board is 11 inches wide and 38 inches long, which makes for more comfortable riding. Crucially, it is also IPX5 waterproof-rated and can handle weights of up to 330 lbs, making it ideal for advanced riders and adults.

DNA Skate M8

Priced at $219, the DNA Skate M8 is the company’s 2024 offering. It features a 400W motor that is paired with a 100 Wh battery that offers a range of 15 miles. The board supports a 300 lb load and can reach a top speed of 22 mph. The board itself is medium-sized at 28 x 8 x 4.7 inches. The board weighs 10 lbs and can help you climb gradients between 15 and 20% on average.

Backfire G2

The Backfire Boards G2 will set you back $379; it features 2 400W motors and a 187Wh battery that can get you up to 12.5 miles, depending on the riding mode you choose. It can also climb gradients up to 25% and is built with 8-ply Canadian maple wood—the board. You can upgrade to the more powerful, longer-range G2Z board. However, we couldn’t find it on Amazon, so we won't feature it here.

Whether you're just starting and on a budget or looking to expand your existing array of LEVs, adding an electric skateboard to your lineup is an excellent way to make more sustainable travel choices every day.
