Erik Buell, former founder and CTO of Buell Motorcycle Company and Erik Buell Racing, is well known for his innovation in the motorcycle industry. He brings decades of motorsports experience to develop the next generation of eBikes and eMotorcycles.
FUELL seeks to differentiate itself from the rest of the field with two eBike models that prioritize performance, reliability, and theft protection for urban riders. The extended range is the most notable feature of both of FUELL’s new eBikes. The Flluid-2 has two 2000W batteries that deliver an unheard-of range of up to 225mi (350km) on a single charge. The Flluid-3 is a low-step version that houses a single battery in the downtube and boasts an impressive range of 110mi (180km).
While long range is exciting, FUELL understands that ride quality is just as important. Both the Flluid-2 & Fluid-3 provide fully automatic and predictive gear shifting with the all-new Valeo mid-drive motor and integrated gearbox. This drive/transmission combo delivers plenty of power and torque (145 nM!) to tackle the steepest of hills with ease. By using an internal shifting gearbox, both Flluid models can utilize a Gates Carbon drive belt for low maintenance and no need for lubrication. If you get tired of pedaling, both Flluid models have a push throttle that gives pedal-less assist up to 20 mph (32 km/h) - For EU models, throttle assist will be limited to 6 km/h.
Innovation didn’t end with the hardware. The FUELL Rider app gives the rider full control of their bike with anti-theft features that provide peace of mind when the rider is away from the eBike. Using a frame-integrated connectivity system and the app on the rider’s phone, the rider can lock/unlock their bike and be alerted of theft or unusual movement
FUELL knew that they could only design the best eBike for their customers when they fully understood exactly what their customers wanted. Taking advantage of the Prelaunch.com—a special reservation system that allows customers to put down a small, refundable deposit for new products in exchange for a special deal when the product launches—FUELL was able to validate concept and ideas with its early adopters. This not only helped identify Fllow’s potential market but also brought in vital feedback that helped tweak the final product. In the end, Fllow raised $3 million right after orders opened to the public.
