What You Need to Know Today
US motorcycle sales have stagnated since 2008. Could electric two-wheelers re-energize the industry?
Ola Electric’s Q2 revenue jumped 39%, which helped trim its losses to $58.7 million from $62 million a year earlier.
This week, Paris begins implementing its Limited Traffic Zone in the city center, which will restrict the usage of private cars. Overall 100,000 local residents, as well as buses, taxis, and emergency services, will be permitted in the zone.

Yamaha Motor is investing in Electric Motion SAS, the French electric trials and off-road motorcycle maker. This partnership marries Electric Motion's expertise in off-road e-moto tech and competition with Yamaha’s capital to continue the development of electric off-road technology.
Lime is collaborating with Japan Airlines (JAL) to bring more shared e-scooters and e-bikes to Japanese cities. The collaboration will allow JAL Mileage Bank members to earn air miles through Lime micromobility rides.
As well, Lime is considering Dubai as the 3rd pilot city (in addition to Seattle and Zurich) for its new pedal-less LimeGlider e-bike.

Rwanda will ban the registration of gas-powered motorcycle taxis. In addition to reducing vehicle emissions, the move to electric two-wheelers has also lowered vehicle operating costs for taxi riders by up to 50%.
Toshiba and Naturenix, Inc. are piloting a battery subscription service for electric motorcycle taxis in Bangkok. Toshiba’s new SCiB battery technology performs better in hot and humid climates common in many Asian cities, resulting in longer battery life and lower replacement costs for operators.
Gogoro is collaborating with energy firm Copec to expand its battery swapping and electric moped operations in Chile.

Taiwan-based Hyena E-Bike Systems will partner with Bikes2Go Limited to support e-bike brands, manufacturers, and dealers using the Hyena system in the UK and Ireland.
Dutch e-bike manufacturer Stella has requested creditor protection and may potentially cut over 400 jobs. This is the latest round of financial woes after Stella cut jobs and scaled back global business activities through a corporate reorganization last year.
