Diy electric skateboard how tight to make belt?

When it comes to DIY electric skateboards and tightening the belt, it's crucial to find the right balance. The tightness of the belt can significantly impact the performance and longevity of your electric Skateboard.

Ideally, you want to tighten the belt enough so that it provides proper power TRANSFER from the motor to the wheels, ensuring efficient acceleration and smooth riding experience. However, if the belt is too tight, it can put excessive strain on the motor and bearings, leading to premature wear and reduced efficiency.

On the other hand, if the belt is too loose, it can cause slippage, resulting in a loss of power and decreased overall performance. Additionally, a loose belt can also lead to potential alignment issues and increased risk of damage to the drivetrain components.

To find the right tightness, it's recommended to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for your specific DIY electric Skateboard kit. If such guidelines are not available, a good rule of thumb is to tighten the belt until it barely has any slack (around 1-2mm of deflection when you press down on the center of the belt).

It's essential to regularly check the belt tension and make adjustments as needed. This way, you can ensure optimal performance and extend the lifespan of your DIY electric Skateboard.
