How do ebike hub motors work?

Ebikes can either have a hub motor or a mid-drive motor. A hub motor is located in One of the wheel hubs, typically the rear wheel, and operates independently of the bike's drivetrain. When the rider pedals or triggers the throttle, the motor activates and provides additional power to the wheel, propelling the bike forward. Hub motors come in different sizes, ranging from 250 watts to 750 watts, and can either have geared or direct-drive designs. Geared hub motors are smaller and lighter, but offer less torque, while direct-drive hub motors are larger and heavier, but provide more power and better efficiency. Overall, hub motors make for a simple and low-maintenance eBike system that is ideal for casual riding and commuting.
