Is electric brakes a good idea when towing a trailer with a motorcycle?
Electric brakes can be a great safety feature when towing a trailer with a Motorcycle. Unlike surge brakes - which rely on the weight of the trailer to activate the brakes - electric brakes allow the rider to have more control by adjusting the amount of braking power applied to the trailer. This means that even if the Motorcycle is slowing down or coming to a stop, the trailer will not continue to push forward and jackknife. Additionally, electric brakes can also help reduce wear and tear on the Motorcycle's brakes, which can prolong the life of the bike and improve overall handling. However, it's important to note that installing electric brakes requires additional equipment, such as a brake controller, wiring, and brake assemblies, which can add to the cost and complexity of towing.
