What are motorcycle helmets made of?
Motorcycle helmets are typically made of a hard outer shell, usually made of polycarbonate, fiberglass composite, or carbon fiber. This outer shell provides impact resistance and helps to distribute the force of a collision. Inside the helmet, there is usually a layer of foam padding, such as expanded polystyrene (EPS), which is designed to absorb the energy from an impact and protect the rider's head. Additionally, many helmets include a comfort padding made of Fabric or foam that sits against the wearer's head for added comfort and fit.
