The city of Winnenden has established a funding program for cargo bikes and made €50,000 available in the budget. The aim of the program is to encourage more Winnenden residents to switch to cycling when shopping to reduce CO2 emissions for climate protection. From July 1, 2020, residents who buy an electrically supported or muscle-powered cargo bike with a load capacity of at least 40 kilograms can get up to 50 percent of the net costs reimbursed by the city of Winnenden. Additionally, private individuals are eligible for a sustainability bonus of €500 after three years if no car or one less car is registered compared to before the application was submitted. They can also receive a €100 eco-electricity bonus if eco-electricity is purchased.

The city of Winnenden is offering a funding program called "Cargo Bikes" to promote the purchase of new cargo bikes. The aim of the funding program is to motivate even more people in Winnenden to switch to cycling for shopping and thus reduce local CO2 emissions in the interest of climate protection. Any individual with their primary residence in Winnenden and business owners who have registered their business in Winnenden are eligible to apply. Cargo trailers and child transport trailers are also eligible for funding. Vehicles and trailers with a purchase date from July 1st, 2020 are eligible for funding. The city of Winnenden covers 50% of the net costs, up to a maximum of €1,500 per electric cargo bike, €750 per muscle-powered cargo bike, and €100 per cargo trailer and child transport trailer. In addition, the city has awarded a sustainability bonus (for individuals only) and a €100 green electricity bonus.
