Electric bikes are becoming more and more popular, and for good reason! They're a great option for people who want to get around town without putting strain on their body or the environment.
The Rad Expand 5 is one of the most popular electric bikes on the market, but is it a good choice for you? Today, we'll take a closer look at the Rad Expand 5 electric bike and see what makes it so special.
The Rad Expand 5 ebike is a great bike for those looking for good performance and design. It has a competitive price and offers great value for the money. The bike is well made and rides smoothly. It is also easy to assemble and comes with all the necessary tools.
The biggest downside of this bike is that it does not have a suspension, which may be an issue for some riders. Overall, the Rad Expand 5 ebike is a great bike that offers good value for the money.
The RadExpand uses microSHIFT derailleur and trigger shifters, which I prefer to the large Shimano SIS Index thumb shifter on prior generations, but I think it’s a cheaper brand.
The only slight issue with the step-through setup is the battery on the forward part of the downtube means the key sticks out and sometimes rubs my leg when I pedal.
While most affordable e-bike makers buy motors from other companies, Rad designs theirs in house. This is a big deal — one that Rad takes a lot of pride in — and I can say from experience that it does make a difference in performance and reliability.
Another thing I don’t like about this bike is the rider height limitation. If you’re anywhere from 5’ 10’’ you will start to cramp after a couple of miles.
