10 Reasons to Purchase the CUBE Kathmandu 45 625

  • Saddle on the bike uses memory foam and offers good support.
  • ISIS splined spindle and longer crank arms provide smoother and more efficient pedal movement.
  • The sealed bearing and bottom bracket offer protection against wetter environments and environmental wear.
  • Upgrade from 75nm of torque to 85nm. This provides increased power at a lower output, and an extended boost between pedal strokes.
  • Motor controller in the Bosch Performance Speed Line motor has shift detection, and can ease up on power when a change of gears is indicated. Highly intelligent and responsive motor.
  • Larger wheels for a lower attack angle – the rims and tires can be converted to tubeless as well, for lower weight/less tire pressure
  • Fender + Chain Covers are plastic: they will not rust, get bent, and weigh much less
  • CUBE Kathmandu Hybrid excels in the area for riding with an adjustable suspension fork, ergonomic grips, and higher volume tires for comfort
  • Integrated rear rack helps to reduce rattle and failure points while keeping a sleek look: rather than being bolted onto the frame, it is welded.
  • Racktime platform on the top is positioned well enough that the seat can be lowered down without impacting gear

4 Reasons to Not Purchase the CUBE Kathmandu 45 625

  • It can be a little confusing for North American customers outside of Canada to actually purchase the CUBE Kathmandu – CUBE has a Canadian website and a European one, but no official U.S. based website for ordering. You’re likely best ordering through a licensed third-party retailer/dealer, or contacting CUBE directly to confirm pricing and delivery prior to purchase.
  • Bosch Performance Line motor can produce additional whirring noise/disruption when compared to lower power models
  • Fenders that come with the bike have a tendency to produce a rattle, despite offering good tire coverage
  • May have to replace the stock plastic pedals – they aren’t that wide and don’t appear to offer a ton of support depending on the size of your feet

Bottom Line

The CUBE Kathmandu Hybrid 45 625 offers a smooth ride and much longer ride time than comparable models. The main drawback of the bike is the fairly high price point, which can be off-putting for beginners/novices.
Those with more experience, or those looking to upgrade from their budget e-bike for something geared towards urban commutes or tours, should look no further than the Kathmandu Hybrid. The wealth of positive feedback from professionals and hobbyists alike speaks for itself.
